10 Great Shots to Try in Your Photo Booth

Whether you’re organizing or attending an event with a photo booth it’s easy just to fall into the trap of not planning your shots and, well, they end up pretty typical.

Tongue out? Check! Goofy pose? Done! But, there are so many great ideas for photo booth shots. Read on to see our favorite ten ideas.

Our Top Ten Photo Booth Shots

No. 10 The Smile

Ok, so maybe you weren’t expecting this to be in our Top Ten but there aren’t enough smiles in the world! You can’t beat a traditional smiling picture. If you find this boring, try mixing it up a bit by saying the equivalent of “cheese” in another language!

In Spain, the go-to word is papa, which means potato. South Koreans say kimchi, which is a local delicacy made of spicy fermented cabbage. Yum.

No. 9 The “Get as Many in as Possible” Shot

This is perhaps more of a challenge than a shot! See how many people you can get in the photo booth frame. Get creative and opt for piggybacks and shoulder carries to maximize the number of faces in the frame.

No. 8 The “Vogue”

Every fancied yourself on the cover of a magazine? Practice your best side in a Vogue-style pose. Take your inspiration from current cover girls (and boys) and get yourself a great take-home snap.

No. 7 Charlie’s Angels/Men in Black Pose

Team up with your friends and strike a pose as a group. A wedding is an ideal place to team up in all-female or all-male groups for a Charlie’s Angels or Men in Black-style pose.

No. 6 Piggybacks and Picking up

Release your inner child and have a piggyback ride in front of the camera. Be careful of any pulled backs though, this isn’t a pose for the fainthearted.

No. 5 Photobomb

The ever-hilarious photobomb is one to try for a funny shot. Ideally, you would do this with someone you know well so that they don’t get annoyed or offended!

No. 4 Writing on Props

Providing they’re available, write-on props like chalkboards, whiteboards, and pegboards are great for messages and funny hashtags. Check with the party host in advance whether there’ll be things to write on so that you can plan some funny texts!

No. 3 Dancing

Always a favorite is dancing! Why not wait for your favorite song to come on before heading to the photo booth instead of the dancefloor? The enjoyment will show in your faces and you’ll have great photos to remember.

No. 2 Jump

Our second spot is reserved for a great action shot. On the count of three, 1, 2,3, JUMP! These shots are hilarious – more often because there’s always one that forgets to jump or who jumps before the rest.

No. 1 The Surprise Kiss

Our top spot goes to The Surprise Kiss. Pose with your sweetheart and just as the camera is about to click, lean in for a surprise kiss. The results of these shots are always surprising!

So there you have it, our Top Ten shots to try at the photo booth! We’d love to see some examples after the event!

Photo Booth Backdrop Ideas For Any Event

The backdrop of a photo booth shouldn’t be underestimated! This can really change how your photos look and the image that they create. Photo booths have come a long way from their original blue curtain or white screen backdrop of days gone by.

Realistically, the choices are endless, which often makes the decision really difficult! Let’s look at some possible backdrop ideas to get you thinking.

  • Plain Backdrops

Plain backdrops are great for any event and make really great pictures. To add some glamour to an event, a plain gold or silver backdrop is a really sophisticated option.

  • Glitter Curtains

To add even more pizazz, opt for a glitter curtain or image as your backdrop. These are ideal for weddings and other glamorous events where people are dressed to impress.

  •  Historical Backdrop

Depending on the event, it might be appropriate to have a vintage backdrop to tie into a theme. If the event is a birthday for someone born in the 60s, you might choose a backdrop that reflects this, for example.

  • Cityscape

A cityscape is a great backdrop for an all-out glam event. A Las Vegas-themed event would look great with a paired backdrop and a Hollywood backdrop would look great for a movie star-style event!

  • Seasonal Backdrop

If it’s a Christmas party or New Year celebration, reflect that in your backdrop. For a Christmas party, you could even incorporate appropriate props like Santa hats and fake gifts, for example.

  • Corporate Backdrop

Any business event is really about marketing. A photo booth can be a subtle marketing tool. Add your company logo or an interesting hashtag to the backdrop and the photos will be your latest marketing technique when employees upload them to their social media accounts.

  • Green Screen Backdrop

If you really can’t decide what backdrop to go for, leave your options as open as possible with a green screen. This way, you can change the backdrop at the drop of a hat and can provide all sorts of photo opportunities at the click of a button.

What to Think Consider When Choosing a Backdrop

Your backdrop choice will depend on a number of different things. Before you make a final decision, consider the following:

  • Whether or not your party has a theme – Hollywood, 60s, or 1930s prohibition, whatever your theme, make sure your backdrop is a great addition.
  • Your guests – their style. Think about what your guests would like in a photo booth.
  • The event style – if it’s a very formal, black-tie affair, a photo booth backdrop needs to reflect this.
  • Business opportunities (for a corporate event, of course) – think about adding a logo, slogan or hashtag onto the backdrop to promote your business at every photo opportunity.

Final Decisions

If you really can’t decide, go for the green screen! That means you can chop and change however you fancy throughout the event. A green screen will be loved by all!

Photo Booths: Expectation Vs. Reality

Planning your wedding is a complicated and time-consuming task. There are so many different strands to think about including guest entertainment, photographs, and wedding favors.

If you’ve decided to hire a photo booth (and, let’s face it, you cover all 3 of those things with one!), then read on to find out what you can expect out of your photo booth experience.

Photo Booths For Weddings

The photo booth market is an ever-expanding market. Many traditional photographers are adding to their repertoire by branching out in the photo booth industry.

After all, photo booths are a big business as far as weddings go. There are, however, so many different options to choose from! Whatever type of photo booth you decide to go for, there are many things you can expect.

Expectation No. 1: Fun for the whole family

You hire a photo booth because you want to entertain your guests among other things. We guarantee that a photo booth is fun for all the family!

From toddlers to octogenarians, the photo booth is a great, fun-filled experience for anyone. The great thing about a photo booth is that there are so many different types of photos you can take.

You can have a sensible pose with your Great Aunt Elizabeth or a silly gurning pose with your seven-year-old nephew! There is so much fun to be had!

Expectation No. 2: Too expensive

Obviously, the price depends on what you want from your photo booth but, when you think of what you get out of a photo booth, they’re actually really great value for money!

What’s more, you can double up the photo booth experience as favors for your guests or you can make it a part of your wedding guest book!

All in all, therefore, photo booths are a great value!

Expectation No. 3: Guests will get bored after a while

There may be times when the line is longer than others but there will always be guests coming back for more! You’ll find a few key guests by the end of the evening that just can’t tear themselves away!

Once the ice is broken and people start flocking in, there will be a steady stream of guests taking snaps until the bar closes and it is time to go home!

Expectation No. 4: You need loads of different props
Not really

While props are great, you actually don’t need that many!

A few funny hats, some oversize glasses, and a chalkboard are great inclusions in your prop box.

There are, of course, many props that make great photos: streamers, party poppers, and glitter confetti are three examples but, if you’re wanting to keep costs down, have props that can be reused by all guests.

Whatever type of photo booth you choose and whatever your expectations, you really won’t be disappointed with the experience and the service.

Photo booths are so much fun, you’ll be thinking about when you can next hire one!

5 Unusual Photo Booth Ideas

Mugshot Backdrop and Signs

Photo booths are a must-have for most modern weddings these days so if you like the idea of a photo booth but don’t want to go mainstream, it’s a good idea to do a photo booth that is a little bit quirky but a lot of fun!
Photo booths have loads of added benefits alongside entertainment.

They can provide you with guestbook photo entries, favors, and wedding souvenirs. Let’s look at some more unusual ideas to your classic photo booth.

Whether you’re a police officer or just want a laugh, a photo booth with a mugshot template is a hilarious take on a traditional photo booth.

Your guests can stand in front of the typical mugshot ruler backdrop and hold a board that can be customized for their “crime”. It’s great fun seeing what fake crimes your guests come up with!

From crimes of fashion to crimes in dancing, this will have people up and laughing all night long.

Personalized Instagram Frame

These are fairly easy to make. Your guests can have fun holding up the Instagram frame (and then will probably post the photo on Instagram too!).

Chalkboard Backdrop

Chalkboards are all the rage at the minute and a chalkboard backdrop is a great look for any wedding or party.

You can personalize it with your names and wedding hashtag so that people can post, share, and look up photos of your happy day on social media sites.

Sit-on Moon and Stars

If you’re the creative arty type, get your hands dirty and make a backdrop that involves a cut-out moon and stars. Imagine how great your pictures could look with your guests sitting on a crescent moon!

DIY Selfie Station

If you love the idea of a photo booth but simply can’t afford one, you can still give your guests a great experience with a DIY Selfie Station.

Clear space on your iPad, put it on a stand with instructions and provide some basic props and you’ll have great memories of the evening!

A Photo Booth Without The Booth

Another idea for those on a tight budget is a photo booth idea with a different. In fact, this is so different in that it’s not really a photo booth at all. For this idea, you can still provide props and a backdrop, although you can do it even without these.

The idea is that you provide a wireless photo printer and provide instructions for your guests to take photos to send to the printer.

You could use these as guestbook photos, wedding favors or just to make a fun photo collage that you can keep adding to as the party goes on!

Unusual Ideas

Photo booths are great but if you want a more unusual version of a photo booth, why not discuss your plans with friends and family and get even more creative ideas!

Whatever sort of photo booth you decide to go for, we’re sure that you’ll have a great time with lots of great photos as a result!

Five Cleveland Cultural Things Not to Be Missed

The city of Cleveland, Ohio is full to the brim of cultural things to see and do. Let’s take a look at what Cleveland has to offer in terms of performing arts, music, and literature.

Performing Arts

Cleveland has the second-largest performing arts center in the whole of the U.S. – Playhouse Square. This is second only to the Lincoln Center in New York City.

In Playhouse Square, you will find the Ohio Theatre, Hannah Theater, Allen Theater, Palace Theater, and State Theater. This is a hub for many Broadway Musicals and the city has produced lots of well-known actors as well as the renowned comedian Bob Hope.

Elsewhere in Cleveland, there is the Karamu House. This is America’s oldest African-American theater and dates back to the 1920s.

Cleveland is also home to one of the world’s best orchestras, The Cleveland Orchestra. This is considered to be the finest in the U.S. During the winter, the orchestra plays at Severance Hall, in University Circle, and during the summer, it can be found at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls.

During the 60s and 70s, Cleveland gained a reputation in rock music and even hosted the World Series of Rock from 1974 to 1980. If this is something you’re interested in, visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, located in downtown, Cleveland. This is a museum that celebrates the most influential and best-known figures, artists, producers, and engineers of rock and roll music.

Jazz is also popular in Cleveland and has a long history here. The Tri-C Jazz Fest is held in Cleveland every year. For jazz lovers, Bop Stop on Detroit Avenue is a great place to pay a visit.

Polka has been and continues to be, popular in Cleveland. There is even a sub-genre of polka called Cleveland-style. For those interested, there is the Polka Hall of Fame, which is worth a visit. This traces the Cleveland-style polka from its roots in Slovenia in the 19th century, through the factory and mining towns of America, to the post-war years.

If you like piano music, The Velvet Tango Room is a great location. From Monday to Thursday there are pianists from 9 pm and the cocktails are great too!

The modernist poet, Hart Crane, was born not far from Cleveland. The memorial park along the Cuyahoga left bank is dedicated to him. There is also a marker where his childhood home sat in University Circle. Elsewhere, there is a statue behind the Kelvin Smith Library at Case Western Reserve University’s Campus.

If you’re into poetry, there are regular readings at many Cleveland bookstores and coffee shops.
If you’re visiting in July, the Cleveland Inkubator is a great 4-day festival that is free. It’s for writers and readers alike and offers workshops, keynote speeches, book swaps, and open mic sessions.

Fun Party Hacks: 15 Fantastic Ideas for your Party

There’s something about a good party that means you’re reminiscing for years to come. When you’re a host, you want your guests to have a good time. Even better still is to create a party that is memorable for all of the right reasons. Here are 13 great party hacks that are fun whatever the occasion.

1. Keep drinks bottles cool with frozen water balloons. When they’ve melted, the fun starts! You might need to gently remind guests to check that they’re completely defrosted before launching them though!

2. If you have a punch or a bowl full of fruit salad, use a block of ice to keep it cool. You can fill a lunch box container with water and freeze it the day before. By using a block of ice, you won’t be watering down your punch or fruit salad as it will melt more slowly.

3. Use an empty jar to make whipped cream. Simply pour the cream in about half full and shake until you get the consistency you want. Then you can easily store in the fridge for use later!

4. If you’re grilling kebab skewers, use two skewers for each kebab. Why? Because when you turn them over, it stops a piece of meat or vegetables from rotating and not getting cooked on a different side.

5. Have a dedicated area or box with sunscreen and bug spray. Your guests will really appreciate the thoughtfulness.

6. Tie down your bottle opener. Not because you think someone is going to steal it, but because it means you’ll always be able to find it and so will your guests!

7. If there are lots of guests, save washing up (and running out of glasses) by encouraging them to label their glasses when they get them. This also helps save the environment if you’re using plastic glasses and cups.

8. Freeze fruit to add to drinks instead of ice cubes. This is great for kids and adults alike!

9. If your party is still going after dark, use empty wine or beer bottles as candle holders.

10. Make a playlist in advance. If you don’t know what type of music your guests are into then make it a good mix of all styles. If you have an online music streaming account, let your guests access it and choose their own music too.

11. Set up some activities to entertain your guests. This could be as simple as a set of playing cards or giant Jenga to beer pong.

12. Make sure you enjoy yourself too. Plan everything in advance and give ‘jobs’ to some guests that won’t mind helping out so that you’re not doing everything. That way, you can actually enjoy the party too! It’s probably not a good idea to get too drunk if you’re the host. After all, you want to make sure everything is OK for your guests!

13. Have a plan to wind down the party when the time’s up and have a couple of guests in on your plan too. You don’t want to be rude and kick out guests when you’ve had enough but something simple like turning down the music and beginning a clean up with bin liners might be a subtle-enough hint.

And there you have it… 13 fantastic party hacks sure to make your party one to remember forever!

Grant Gustin Brings His Superhero Charm to Our Open Air Booth

Grant Gustin, who plays the character of Barry Allen AKA “The Flash”, attended the beautiful wedding of his sister in law, Weezy Thoma, along with his wife, LA Thoma, on June 15th, to wish her a lifetime of love and everlasting happiness. The wedding theme portrayed what can be rightly called as graceful grandeur.

Grant hinted at the wedding in his June 16 Instagram post,

“Family keeps growing. EDIT: NEW BROTHER IN LAW. Not preggo.”

If you haven’t had enough of the humor and cuteness, check out this post by his wife who also officially announced the wedding through Instagram.

“my Weezy got married to her Matty Poo! She wore my veil, and I wore the same dress she wore at my wedding. It was perfect ❤️ welcome to the crazy fam Matt!”

This goes to show just how caring his wife’s side of the family is. Even Grant has mentioned several times to the media how big, thrilling, and fun LA Thoma’s family is.

The wedding took place at the Life Care Alliance’s Carrie’s Café decorated in shades of pink, navy, mint green, and white. Elegant decorations and contrasting colors beautifully captured the essence of the occasion. Not only that, Grant had a very big family reunion and even met distant relatives. This justified for a very special photo booth to make lasting memories for everyone.

We captured the loving moments of a beautiful occasion in a fun-filled way, using our Open Air Booth.  The happy family enjoyed a fun time using our special booth. They were great with poses and shots!

We also felt heartfelt joy for capturing everlasting memories for the loving couple, Grant and his family.

If you’re wondering whether the flash is as adorable and fun in real life as he is on tv, then you’re undeniably correct! 100% awkward and adorable! Look for yourself!

Grant’s family took up our challenge for fitting the most people inside the booth very seriously.
And of course, he opted for a DC Comics prop!

Take inspiration from your favorite Superhero celebrity and use our photo booth services for your next special event!
